Which sadly, is still not widely supported in mail clients to my
knowledge.  I hate to say this, but the only GUI MUA I know of
that supports SMTP authentication is MS Outlook & Outlook Express.

I'm not 100% sure, but I think the latest version
of Eudora also supports AUTH.
