I know what you mean. sometimes it's difficult to judge the skills of the
person asking the question and as in this case the person said they tried
several places and didn't get it to work.
now we know that that for a global alias you normaly will put this in
srm.conf because we want it to be an apache thing and not just a host or
virtual host thing.
http://www.apache.org/docs/mod/mod_alias.html#scriptalias
I've noticed that most people are aware of httpd.conf so assumed he tried
that and never tried the other "server config" files. So I asked a
question that was an answer instead. A yes would mean something very
interesting and a no (if posted) would = /dev/null or maybe how to restart
apache? I think it may be an english conversation methodlogy that confused
you. I actually assumed he didn't do 1 or both things. I will try to
correct this in future postings and thank you for bringing this to my
attention.
Oh ya
/etc/httpd/conf/srm.conf is the file to edit. but it should work in
access.conf as well but it's not neat.
Now if we all had the current version of apache we would only have 1 config
file but cobalt is still "working on it" so we hope!
