rm -rf
I should mention that the f means to force the removal. so no questions
about it just do it! it used to be if you typed rm * you would wipe the
whole system because .. (or is it .)is a listing in the directory anyway it
caused the whole tree to be deleted. pretty kool and not something to try
on older unix systems. now it's trapped or fixed somehow. I'm not sure but
I found another kool program to work on (ok 3 actually) while looking around
for the answer. Still today however it is possible to make a typo and wipe
out the whole thing. About 2 months ago I visited the yahoo unix chat area
and ask a stupid question: "what do you type to see a directory listing in
linux?" the response(s) where "rm -rf /" which of course would delete
everything you could ever want. Sorry about rambling on about this but I've
been reading alot of useless jef<snip> posts/adverts lately and the
medication isn't working? or is it? :)
