Then what?  The guys at work give them the siteadmin login and give them the
ability to read/write files on your main site, including your main site's files?

What is difficult about that?  Have you ever done it?  You just create a site as
you would any other site on the RaQs and instead of "www" you type in
"clientsitename".  Before spreading misinformation and posting what the "guys at
work" do you might want to get your hands dirty and then actually post some
instructions.
