[cobalt-users] RaQ3i SSL/DNS error prob.. on going..



Seems it is not just me with this SSL/DNS page not found error on the RaQ3i's.

Over the past 2 weeks I have been contacted privately by 3 others with the
same problems.

Short version:
The DNS error page not found occurs:
Only when using MSIE usually ver 4 or higher
Only when page is called SSL AND script called from <form> tag using SSL
Never occurs in Netscape
When submit is pressed, [if warnings are set in IE to show entering and
leaving secure] a pop up occurs that states "You are about to leave a
secure Internet connection. It will be possible for others to view the
information you send" (when they are not leaving secure) "Do you want to
continue?" Choices: No - Yes - More info
[after reading the more info statement *I* was scared to continue.. I can
only imagine how the challenged would feel about continuing]
If you click YES you get the error page, click back and submit again it
will work
If you click NO then submit again it will work.
Identical page(s) & script placed on ANY other server the error does NOT
happen

I'd like some response from other RaQ3i people who might be experiencing
this problem.

In all the research and testing I have done, my conclusion is that while MS
admits to a bug in MSIE 4+ this situation only seems to occur on RaQ3i's
when SSL is called, and has something to do with the A. configuration of
the raq and/or B. the SSL package pre-installed on the 3i, both in
conjunction with MSIE 4+. I have done the suggested repairs & setting
changes etc that MS recommends with no improvement whatsoever.

If all 3i admins would kindly reply private to these Q's I will compile the
results and we can all attack cobalt together for a resolution. I know my
clients are not getting all the sales they should be due to this error..
and this directly effects me and you; as either the client will move out or
in my case many of the carts I do are strict commission. In either case,
income is lost.

I reported this problem to Cobalt techs way back in early April, received a
sad tap dance sort of response in May and nothing further from my
inquiries. Last night myself and another raq3i admin filled out the support
form at Cobalt. Of course I did not expect a reply in less than 24 hours!

What script [cart] you are running.. Is it a commercially available?
custom? customized?? 

Is the script called from the page absolute or relative?

Have you tested the page straight http? did the error occur?

Have you tested or used this script on other servers??

What upgrades have you done or not done to the box.

Have you complained or reported to cobalt about the problem?

Are you running a self signed certificate or a Thawte or Verisign or other?

Is this problem on going since you set up on the raq or did it start after
a change (OS upgrade etc..)?

Have you seen this in only one script running on the cobalt or in more than
one script on the cobalt and or in other sites?

Is your DNS1 & DNS2 on the same RaQ3i or on different boxes?

Any additional comments to help out here.. testing you have done.. links to
pages where this happens..
