Doesn't much matter where they are when you install them.
And no, you shouldn't need to do anything apart from mysqladmin--except
perhaps setting up the /etc/rc.d/init script so that mysqld starts up every
time you boot. I don't remember if those RPMs have that or not. You may
also need to start mysqld that first time as well.

You just need to install the DBI (DBI-1.14) and then the msql+mysql
(Msql-Mysql-modules-1.2214) CPAN modules. Pretty easy to do--you can do it
via the command line (which is pretty cool, but I forget how... something
like perl -CPAN DBI would install DBI for you)
