Re: [cobalt-users] Sharing Dedicated Server Without Knowing It?

Hi Chad. Welcome to the world of dedicated hosting and welcome to the Cobalt Users
list.

Details? What steps did you take? What errors or problems arose? Maybe you needed
to be logged in as root, but were logged in as admin. To login as root type the
following from the commandline: "su -".

Where did you see the statistics that showed 256 MB and wher did you see the
statistics that showed 128 MB? Give more details and/or post the output of what you
are referring to.

Though it's possible that you are sharing the server I find that highly improbable.
If there were two customers sharing a server that was supposedly dedicated solely to
one customer it would be easy to monitor the logs, check the contents of /home/sites,
/etc/aliases, /etc/virtusertable, /var/spool/mail and numerous other files to
discover this. Plus, when one changed admin's password the other would be locked
out. And even if some unscrupulous provider did that, it would never result in you
seeing only 50% of the RAM you thought you had. Give us more info. and we'll be glad
to help.

FYI, in the future *please* do not quote entire messages when you post to the list.
And do not quote messages that are totally unrelated to your post. You did both.
<wry grin> You're probably new to the world of professional mailing lists so I
forgive you, but I strongly suggest you lear mailing list etiquette. Try a search on
google.com for "netiquette" or search the Cobalt Users list archives
(http://list.cobalt.com/mailman/listinfo/cobalt-users). H. P. Ströbel recently
posted a message that will get you started
