man is a command line help utility. At a shell prompt, type 'man man'
without the quotes for a manual page for the man command. The name man is a
historical artifact from the early days of UNIX. You type 'man commandname'
for whatever command you want to view the man page for. These man pages
have nothing to do with Cobalt's manual. They are usually a part of any
Linux/UNIX system.
If you find these pages to be too terse, you would probably be well served
by reading a basic book on Linux command line administration and file
manipulation.
If you are planning to have uour users access the folder via ftp, note that
it may do a chroot when each user logs in, thus requiring you to have all
the users on the same virtual site, and the folder somewhere under that
site's home folder.
Note that the groups file might be called /etc/group on your machine.
Hope this helps. It is a lot to grasp if you have never used a Linux or
UNIX command line.
