There aren't two folders. There is really just one folder; and the
www.site.com name is just a symbolic link to that folder.

Well, if you need to know which domainname that site26 is linked to,
then telnet in and cd to /home/sites, and write:
ls -l | grep site26
And you'll see the resulting domainname there. You can do the same if
you have a domainname and want to know the sitenumber.

No, it doesn't make any difference.
