Hi,
I am a new user of the RAQ3 - this week ! Would love a little bit of startup
help.
First question (:-)
I have a box set up with, for now, I believe, both primary and secondary
DNS. At least that is what my system shows in the GUI system page. These are
on sep IP's.
I have gone into the GUI DNS properties and put in A records (with reverse
PTRs) for my DNS files - web.ozdns.net & web2.ozdns.net and have added
www.ozdns.net & ozdns.net
Now how do I ensure that my secondary dns (web2.ozdns.net) gets updated with
this information and any subsequent domains I add (either virtual ip based
or virtual name based). I am confused in the GUI between add secondary for
domain and add secondary for IP. All my changes seem to be hitting the
primary (?) - how doi I create the records in the secondary (through the GUI
preferably)
(I will be looking for someone soon to act as a secondary for me and I will
act as a secondary for them)
Second Question
I have been supplied by my NOC (dialtone) with an additional 5 IP's that I
want to set up on my box for IP based names (one will be the base for some
name based sites others will be straight sites). Do I need to do anything on
the box to register these IPs or will referring to them in the DNS do this.
I really want to keep away from having to edit files through shell/telnet
where possible - one of the reasons I went RAQ3 was the Gui interface -
don't want to stuff this up !
In anticipation thanks - hope this isn't too basic a couple of q's
