[cobalt-users] Newbie needs HELP!

This is a newbie question and could be a little long, I will try to keep it
brief and I apologize in advance.

I just got my RAQ3 up and running (kind of)with my provider. The problem I
am having is that my provider setup my RAQ3's DNS using my nameservers prior
to me registering them. Apparently that is a bad thing according to my
domain name registrar (nameit.net). What happens is that when I try to
register the nameservers, it gives me an error stating that they have
already been registered. They sent me the following response when I
questioned why this was happening:

"The only time this happens is when the customer attempts to use the name
server with a domain before registering the name server. The actual name
server will log into our local database but not the Shared registry sinces
it's not yet registered. The local database is checked prior to connecting
to the shared registry when attempting to register the name server, it finds
the prior attempt and will not allow the name server to register. Please
allow us 24 hours to remove these name servers from our database, then
attempt to register the name server again."

It is now over 48hrs and I am still getting the error and am unable to
register my nameservers.

Finally...here is my question(s).

I want to register a different domain as my nameservers and then change my
RAQ3 DNS info to the new nameservers. The registering part I can do, it is
the changing of the DNS on the server that makes me nervous. I have only
had this RAQ for 3 days. Is it difficult to change the DNS info on the
server? Anything I should be concerned with? Can two separate nameservers
(.com and .net) have the same IP's? Or should I just wait to see if the
original nameservers finally propagate and free themselves up.

Sorry for the novel. Any help is greatly appreciated.
