Hi David,
If you aren't having the problems, then one question to ask your clients is
"who is your dial-up provider?" This is a pertinent question and the
response you give depends on their answer. For example, Earthlink.net will
NOT allow the use of an SMTP server other than their own. There are other
providers who are using this rule. Mindspring has their servers configured
this way, and some of the small regional ISPs in my area also institute
this rule. There is no way around it. If your clients use such a provider,
then they must set their e-mail to use their providers SMTP. There is no
real drawback for your customers because they can customize their e-mail to
provide any return address. The reply address is NOT dependant on the SMTP
server that is used to send the mail.
*grin..I did uninstall POPbeforeSMTP once upon a time...but I reinstalled
it and I've forgotten the commands to uninstall...ooops.
HTH...but you probably know this anyway..:)
see ya,
Diana
PS..I'm using Earthlink and no amount of begging would get them to change
this policy..:)
