[cobalt-users] Just a little trouble with German TDSL...

Hi,

this is not a cry for help, but some experience I don't wish anybody to make.

A client of mine, Biotech startup firm, uses my RaQ3 as POP3 and SMTP server.
SMTP works since installing POP-before-SMTP. No word about that that in the
doc.

After a while came increasing numbers of calls from the client: We often do
reach your damm... server. We can not get our mails. We can not send mails.
We get timeouts and incorrect passwords! DO SOMETHING!!!

Creating a dummy account on the server and in Eudora: No problems. Ten
times a day: no probs.

Calling the support: You have POP-before-SMTP installed? Sorry, third
party, not our work. Install OS 3 and see what happens.
Some days later again a call of the clients Sysop, formerly Postmaster of a
German University. Complaining about errors and errors. Telling about
compensation and all that.
I told them that Cobalt would write to them, that it is not problem of the
server.

Further Call at Cobalt support. They called my client and made a
phone-conference.
The client's (a friend of mine) Sysop got the admin password, su -,
started TCP-Trace or something.
And then he found out that the Deutsche Telekom TDSL connection was losing
data on his way.
..........
Lots of hard core flames on the Deutsche Telekom deleted...
...........

Now he uses ISDN and everything is fine...

Regards
Christian
