It's possible they already set that up...

Did you try creating a domain on one of those
IP addresses?  What happened when you did?
David Lynch

When I do a trace route from my office to any of the ip's the trace stops at the ISP's router.

Find route from: 196.7.203.193
             to: 196.7.31.11 (196.7.31.11), Max 30 hops, 40 byte packets
Host Names truncated to
32 bytes
 1 nld-58-2.mweb.co.za              (196.2.50.20    ):   160ms      203ms
     *
 2 nld-36-1.mweb.co.za              (196.2.50.1     ):  1670ms      173ms      103ms
 3 fe2-0.cr3.cpt.iafrica.net        (196.31.216.225 ):   105ms      188ms      103ms
 4 fe0-0.hr1.nwl.iafrica.net        (196.31.0.71    ):    97ms      146ms      100ms
 5     *

Being completely new to anything Linux I phoned the ISP to ask how to configure the RaQ3i so that the ip's could be configured to my primary interface.

They checked their configurations and said I needed to telnet to the box and to enter in the commands below.
/sbin/ifconfig eth0 alias 196.7.31.0 netmask 255.255.255.0

The response I get is
alias: Unknown host

I'm not sure if the problem is on my side or the ISP needs to do more configurations?

Cheers

James
