I appologize if the answers to my prayers have been posted previously
but I have searched the
archives and not found them to date. Also, and I am sure this is
obvious, I am quite new to this, so be
gentle with me : )
The main site on my machine, the same IP as the machine itself, is
Domain.com. I am trying to set up
several subdomains (ie., Sub1.Domain.com, Sub2.domain.com,
Sub3.Domain.com, etc) with the same
IP address (though if I needed to use one or two seperate IP adresses, I
could, if I could figure that
out).
I have created a virtual site for Sub1.Domain.com, with "Sub1" as the
host name and "Domain.com" as
the domain. I did not check the box for "Allow web access by domain"
and did not check the box for
"Accept email for domain" (all on the advice I saw being issued here to
others having similar
problems, by those who know more than I do... a sizable group!!)
I then went to the control panel/DNS Parameters and entered the
information to "Delegate a
Subdomain". I used the same DNS information for the sub domain as I did
for Domain.com. After
doing this, I could not pull Sub1.Domain.com up in a browser. So....
Then I tried creating an "A-record" for Sub1.Domain.com, but still no
dice. I have since tried various
combinations including setting up the site with "www" as the host and
"Sub1.Domain.com" as the
domain name, creating A records, not creating A records, Delegating
subdomains, not delegating
subdomains (If delegating subdomains, the Sub has to have the same IP
address as Domain.com,
correct?).
If anybody out there can think of something that I haven't, I could
really use the help. Thank you very
much in advance!
John
