Hello all,
I have seen a number of posts about MyODBC, but none seem to answer my
question - please forgive me if this is obvious, I am fairly new to
databases.
I am running a RaQ2 and have already installed PHP3 and MySQL successfully.
In both cases, I used the rpms available from Cobalt's ftp site. Now, I
would like to install MyODBC to be able to access databases created on the
server with my local version of FileMaker Pro. I have obtained the iODBC
package from mysql.com download page. I have unpacked that package and
discovered the instructions are thin. Basically, I have to
questions/problems:
1. The iODBC Config-linux.mk file tells me I need to configure three
directory variables:
# MYSQL_DIR
# MYSQL_DBLIBDIR
# ODBC_DIR
The first, however, is labeled as a source distribution directory. I am not
sure about this, but I think I do not have a copy of the source as I
installed from Cobalt's rpm - I think I am missing something here. Also,
can someone tell me what the other two directories are on the RaQ2 as per
the rpm installation?
and,
2. do I have to run make separately on the MyODBC package (version 2.50.22)
included with the iODBC distribution or is it compiled when I compile
iODBC??
Any help would be greatly appreciated (even in the form of a URL that points
to a somewhat complete online tutorial on MyODBC installation as I have been
able to find none!). Thanks in advance,
