I want to
start doing some wild and crazy things to the secondary RaQ in an
attempt to better understand the piece of hard ware and so that I
can implement a mirroring scheme so that the secondary RaQ is
identical to the primary in every respect and the primary RaQ
writes all changes to both systems so that if the primary dies
the secondary will still be online.

I too am VERY interested in just such an arrangement. I just received the
second (identical) RaQ2, and it is now mounted above the first. My coloc
provider has been excellent to work with, but this is new to us all so
we're looking for info.
Can the two RaQ2s be connected to each other via the serial connection
(neither of mine have the SCSI ports)? Can the backups be transferred over
this serial connection?
If so...or not...can we use cron jobs to automate the backup from one to
the other and can we set the backup machine to "believe" it is the same
machine as the first so that all we have to do is move the network
connector from the bad machine to the backup? ie: both machines have the
same IP identifier, but the backup not actually be connected to the main
network. If set up so that the IP had to be reset on the backup machine
once the first one went down..that would not be a bad thing from our point
of view but it would be an extra step...eliminating steps might save
mistakes...:)
waiting with great interest,
thanks,
Diana
