I have seen many threads regarding 99.99% uptime for a RaQ. Well while perusing the Cobalt website, I found this press release regarding a new software package for the RaQ3i that does HA via clustering. http://www.cobalt.com/about/press/2000/000522.html What are the benefits? There is alleged simple installation via .pkg file, browser-based set-up and administration and relative ease of use for those with little or no experience with High Availability and or clustering. What are the caveats? Well #1 you have to have two RaQ3is. #2 The software is proprietary and not open source. #3 The "introductory price" is $499.00 with a suggested retail of $999.00. #4 it runs on the RaQ3i *only* Has anyone gone ahead and purchased StaQware for testing? Is anyone running it in production? I'd like to know if there are any benefits to the freely available and open source solutions that can be found at http://www.linux-ha.com/ (other than the software coming in a pretty .pkg file ;^) ) Thanks.
