Disabling telnet is not a bad idea as it sends everything in clear text. I would
recommend installing SSH (which sends data encrypted) before disabling telnet. If
you have an old roomate who uses her key to break into your house you don't board up
the house (disable telnet), you install new locks (SSH). I don't know offhand where
to get SSH, but I think there might be an RPM on Cobalt's site somewhere. If not,
google is your friend - type "SSH" into google.com and I bet the main SSH website is
one of the first three listed.
