[cobalt-users] Call to unsupported or undefined function mysql_pconnect() in sql.inc.php3 on line 22

I installed php3 and mysql
php3 is working fine

when i install a forum that uses mysql i get the following error
i hav made the database and created the tables

still this error

Fatal error: Call to unsupported or undefined function mysql_pconnect() in
sql.inc.php3 on line 22

Anyone any idea
