The Cobalt Developers list is probably a much better place to ask this
question. I believe some users have done this, but it's hardly a
turnkey process.
I'd discuss the reasons why you need to upgrade with either the Cobalt
Developers list or Cobalt's custom programming department before
undertaking it. The Cobalt Linux is quite standard Red Hat linux at
it's core, but as you've noticed, LILO is NOT part of it. And as I
recall the kernel does have changes from the standard Red Hat. And the
Cobalt BIOS is not at all a standard PC Bios, so any biod dependencies
in standard Linux may very well cause problems.
I certainly wouldn't attempt this unless I had an extra system (not in
regular service) to try it on.
