This was bugging me like crazy.. finally I got analog 4.1 to read and
analyze the web.log AND the web.log.*.gz
I FINALLY GOT TWO DAYS worth of stats instead of one!!
OK so now.. I need to work on the logrotate.conf and the site files in
/etc/logrotate.d/ directory. Been reading and printing all night from the
cobalt and analog list archives (you'd be proud Jeff!)
I'd be happy to share the new and improved analog.cfg file with anyone that
needs.. (the people I already shared with ask me again private and I'll
resend)
Can I please see some of your logrotate.conf and site files guys and gals
please???
Ideally I'd like to get a months worth of logs.. I have analog set so that
every time it is run it spits out a new OUTFILE name, so thats cool.. but
I'd really like to see a more comprehensive report. <aside> I was pleased
to see my total requests up to over 80k daily)</aside>
The OLD analog that ran on the shared boxes at Interliant had a setting
that I can not find in analog 4.1
# ROTATE is used to specify how often and when to rotate your cumulative
log #
# file. Here are the acceptable values for this variable. The default is
#
# Monthly on the first day of the month. Letters are case insensitive.
#
# ROTATE="01" -- Will rotate on the First day of the
month #
# ROTATE="07" -- Will Rotate on the Seventh day of the
month #
# ROTATE="Mon" -- Will Rotate on every Monday.
#
# ROTATE="Sat" -- Will Rotate on every Saturday.
#
# ROTATE="every" -- Will Rotate every night
#
ROTATE="09"
Is this truly missing from this new 4.1 version or am I overlooking
something?? Or am I now going to take care of this (sort of) on the cobalt?
This was great as it re-wrote the OUTFILE daily (data from day 1 of month
to current date) until the rotate criteria was met. It then took the
OUTFILE and saved it again as
mm-dd-yy.html
and started fresh after that - so you had a full month logs always to refer
back to.
I saw many references to analog producing a cache file, but I'm not clear
on that.. can any one give me that in English?? <G>
