[cobalt-users] Qube2 Retrieval of remote email problem. Any ideas?

We have a qube2 running on our LAN connected to our ISP through a dialup
account.

We had some trouble with our qube so we sent it back to our supplier, who
replaced its hard-drive. All our original data was (supposedly) copied onto
the new disk. The problem that I have at the moment is that we are not
receiving external email. We can send/receive within the LAN, and send to
outside addresses.

When the qube connects to our ISP every 15 minutes to collect our mailbox
file for processing, we get a "cannot retrieve email because connection to
the local email server failed" message.

In troubleshooting, our ISP moved our mailbox file on their servers to one
side, and sent me a single message. This time the system collected the
message without any problem. However, over night there have been 40 new
messages sent to our ISP which we again cannot collect.

My suspicion as to the root of the problem is that when our users/system
data was copied to the new HD, some of the permissions did not get
transferred. In particular, any mail processing files. Can anyone tell me
what kind of permissions should be on:

/var/spool/mail/userid

Am I barking up the wrong tree? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.
