I'm sure it's just a typo, but for the benefit of the newer users, it's actually:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd.init restart

FYI, it's always a good idea to backup the particular config file (or any file for
that matter) you are editing before making any modifications.  If after running the
above command you get an error you can correct it or revert to the backed up copy.
