Hi,
You're right on about the potential abuse by spammers. For some reason, the
relay for nnn domains box was not working properly for my home PC's IP.
However, when I added the recipient's domain to the list, the note went
through. I was disturbed to think that I may have to enable the whole world
just so that I can send mail out to anyone from my PC using the RaQ's SMTP.
Thanks to Dom's thorough response (see thread), I now understand that it
only checks to see if one of the two parties'(sender or receiver) domain is
allowed to be relayed. So, I should be able to get by with just my home IP
and my business partner's home IP in the relay box.
Brian

Brian,
I don't see why you would want to have an open SMTP. Any clients of
yours that need to send e-mails can use their ISP's SMTP server. Every
ISP (As Far As I Know) has a SMTP server for their dialup customers or
whatever type of connection.
Having an open SMTP (which is what you are talking about when you say
that you don't want to have to specify every IP address) is very, very
dangerous and you will probably find that people will use your SMTP
server to spam...
Regards,
Gonzalo.
