RaQ3 Server Management question.
I thought this list (relay for the following Hosts/Domains) was to allow use
of my box's SMTP server to certain domains or IP ranges. I am confused
because when I set my email client at work to point to the POP and SMTP
servers on my RaQ3 and add my work domain name to the "Relay for ..." list,
I still can't send mail to internet email addresses. And what confuses me
further is that I can get it to work by adding the recipients domain (the
person's domain that I'm actually trying to send the mail to) to the "Relay
for ..." list.
Please tell me that this is NOT the way it actually is supposed to work. I
can see how having control over who can send messages out through your SMTP
server could be a nice feature, but if it is actually controlling who I can
send email to on the internet, that seems a little ridiculous. If the
latter case is true, how can it be usable at all without setting it to "com
net edu etc."?
Thanks,
Brian
