Use the source, Luke.

tar xvfz soure.tar.gz
cd sourcedir
perl Makefile.PL
make
make test
make install

The perl modules cannot conflict w/ any existing software on the RaQ, so
compiling from source and installing is absolutely safe. You might have
to jimmy around a bit during compilation to help the code find the mysql
includes and libraries, but that's it.
