GO BRENT!
While I understand Dan's point, I find myself in utter agreement with Brent,
albeit from a much humbler perch. I am a hardware and Windows geek; these I
do quite well. I am also a Linux geek-wannabe; having used RedHat since
3.0.3 and having worked on various flavors of Unix since 1992, I have become
a competent user but not a sysadmin.
I bought the Cobalt for my home as a transition: make the damn thing run
stable right out of the box while I figure things out in my (non-existent)
spare time. I've also been heavily recommending them to customers who as yet
don't have Internet servers, so they can join the digital age without paying
too steep a price.
As far as I'm concerned, they're a tool, as someone (Jeff? Dom?) said, and
when they fit the need I use them. For what they were designed for, I think
they're great tools.
Of course, I secretly dream of upgrading my home to a real RedHat box in the
future, when I know enough to manage the thing without spending days
learning basics.
Just my $.02...
