[cobalt-users] FAQ: How To Post
- Subject: [cobalt-users] FAQ: How To Post

There have been so many recent posts in HTML format and with unclear
subjects that I thought it might be a good idea to point out a couple of
tips to new members of the list. Unfortunately the Cobalt welcome says
nothing of list netiquette and many may have never used a mailing list
before. Also, the Cobalt sig doesn't mention that the archives of the list
can be searched at: http://list.cobalt.com/mailman/listinfo/cobalt-users
1. Please post in plain text only. Change your email format to Plain Text
and don't use HTML. Believe it or not, many people don't use Netscape or
Outlook (Express) and will see all the useless HTML code in your email as if
you viewed the source of a web page. It's especially annoying to those that
subscribe to the digest version of the list.
2. Please try to put your product name in the subject of your post, e.g.
[RAQ2] [Qube] etc.
3. Please don't send attachments. Many of the users pay by the minute.
Upload images, files, etc to a server and post the URL.
4. Please take a moment to snip the excess from your replies so there aren't
5 copies of the Cobalt inserted sig file and the sig files of everyone who
has replied. (re: digest version of the list)
5. Please search the archives before posting. Many questions have been
answered repeatedly.
Did I miss anything related to this list? Perhaps we can come up with a
brief FAQ to be posted weekly, (or more if necessary).

BTW, I've recently set my Outlook filters to delete HTML posts to this list,
as I believe others have, which may explain why some posts go unanswered.
