Hi, folks.
I've been lurking for a few days and reading the archives to try to get
somewhat up-to-speed on the Raq servers I will soon be responsible for
administering.
A couple of questions that I don't seem to be able to find answers for:
1. For hardware redundancy purposes, would it be possible to have a Raq 3
as a main server with a Raq 2 in reserve in case of hardware
failure? Could backups (in some form over the Net) made on the 3 be
restored to the 2 or vice-versa?
2. Has anyone considered using the so-called RAID-1 IDE mirroring
devices such as
http://www.arcoide.com/no_slot.htm in a Raq server as a protection against
drive failure?
3. Is there any reason I cannot buy an off-the-shelf IDE drive to upgrade
my Raq 3 to a larger drive? Do I have to buy the OS CD to do this?
Thanks very much for your help!
