Hi Listers
We have a Raq2 we have connected to our 2MB fibre
link on the network 1 interface and network 2 is used for our dialups and other
live IP based servers. We also have inplace a firewall machine and on the
other side of the firewall is a private network with about 15 machines on
it. My problem is the that the daily statistics are not showing any
connections by the firewall machine as a client (nor as a server for that
matter).
We dont have a router in place as we dont seem to
need one. Our fibre link is terminated with an ethernet port and I set our
gateway IP as the router on the other end of our fibre (ie our upstream
provider's router). Another "quirk" is that when someone access's our
other Cobalt product (Cache RAQ3) from outsode our network (ie from the internet
proper) they show up as a client accessing the cache in the log? The
gateway router at our upstream provider is also showing up as a
client!
What gives? I know I am missing something
obvious and I am sure someone is going to tell me I need a router :-) But not
having used any major piece of routing equipment before I am not sure what I
need...
Regards
Peter
Ps: What I think I need to do is setup Network 2 as
the gateway subnet for our link and put all our equipment on Network 1 but I
tried this and it all seemed to fall over :-)
