Well I can tell you that to save changes to httpd.conf you'll need to first
switch to root permissions to be able to access it. To do that just type
'su' and hit enter. Enter your password in again and then you should be
good to go to edit without any arguments from the computer. Don't know what
to tell you about the disabling logs thing though.
