[cobalt-users] Re: Repeated Dial-up Connections... why?

Hi,

I might have some insight into your problem... I did say *might* <smile>

I have RqQ3i on an internal LAN. Now, this RaQ has no connection to the
internet, and no modem, but it DOES try to connect outside periodically,
causing entries in the syslogs:

May 16 10:20:03 patsy named[422]: ns_forw: sendto([198.32.64.12].53):
Network is unreachable

This IP address is:
l.root-servers.net. (198.32.64.12 ): 270ms

So it seems that it is trying periodically to contact one of the root DNS
servers.

Maybe your situation is similar?
I don't know why it does this, and I don't know how to stop it, but this
might point you in the right direction.

Regards,

Tarren.
