I am aware that if SMTP is down it won't receive email. The server is up and
running when we do the test and the resuts are the same.
Be usefull and tell me something I don't know.

If your server is down, it can't receive the email until it's back up.
Also, check my previous post this morning on how to test your sendmail
from another system.
