Question
Most of our customers connect from a remote location and finding the IP addresses for each of these customers to enter into the Relay field is nearly impossible. Are there any solutions you provide that can make this process easier?

Response
NOTE: UNSUPPORTED. The following information is outside the scope of Cobalt Networks Technical Support, and could potentially void your warranty. Cobalt Networks does provide Professional Services to aid you with the implementation of unsupported solutions. Please go to http://www.cobalt.com/support.services/index.html for more information about our Professional Services.

Yes, there is a Pop-before-Relay package that will make users authenticate before relaying email. It can be found on our FTP site.

Here is the location for POP Before SMTP:
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/contrib/binaries/

documentation:
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/contrib/binaries/POP-before-relay.txt

The PKG for RaQ3/3i:
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/contrib/binaries/RaQ3i-POP-before-Relay-1.2.pkg

The PKG for RaQ2:
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/contrib/binaries/RaQ2-POP-before-SMTP-1.2.pkg

The PKG for Qube2:
ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/contrib/binaries/Qube2-POP-before-Relay-1.2.pkg

Comments
Note: For RaQ1 and Qube1 users.

RaQ1 users, upgrade your server destructively to RaQ 2 when convenient, then this package will install and operate correctly.

Qube1 users, nobody has asked for this package and sendmail is an odd version so the Qube 2 software can't drop in.

Subject: [cobalt-users] SMTP-Settings for Internet-bycall

Hello

I´ve got the following problem:

Some people in my company use portable computers and dial up to Internet via Internet-by-call-Provider.

We´d like them to use our SMTP/POP-Server on cobalt 2 to make it possible for them using Mail.

The problem is: If they write to someone inside our company everything is fine.
If they write to someone out in the world, they get an error saying the mail couldn´t be relayed.
I think i´ve to enter something into the "relay" setting of the cube, but don´t know what?

Thank you,  Ratti
