RE: [cobalt-users] URGENT ProFTPD problem: users can't go beyond personal directory

Hi,

I am sort of having the same problem on one of my Raq2.

.... this has about 150++ sites and a Site admin user is able to
upload/change the contents of his user directory but is unable to do the
same changes in the Sites /web directory .....

Any Idea what's the problem ... I looked at the user and group
configurations, and the
permissions on the directories, all seems ok!!

Any Ideas!!

Surinder

Subject: [cobalt-users] URGENT ProFTPD problem: users can't go beyond
personal directory

On one of our Cobalt RAQ 3i's, all of a sudden - our users are
unable to upload into anywhere except for their personal Web
subdirectories...

Even if they have site adminstrator permissions, they can't,
for example, upload to the /web or /web/cgi-bin root areas
of their virtual host.

In addition, there is a substantial latency in the response
from the FTP server. It's extremely fast on our other
RAQ's but has slowed to a crawl now.

This problem is identical to that on a few bug postings
we saw at ProFTPD's site and on the Cobalt mailing
list... but we have not seen any resolutions on how
this was fixed.

Reboot/restarting it hasn't solved the problem either
and there doesn't seem to be any information on
Cobalt, Proftpd.net, or Digital Nation (our network
provider) that solves this.

Has anyone else run into this problem and
determined a solution?

Thanks,
- Chris
