pinging shows it to respond just fine to the outside world:) 259ms average here in florida. i have seen this behavior happen before and one quick work a round without finding the problem many times is to use the ip addy only instead of name lookups for the name server monitor. 

i tried your dns in my local search engine and it responds very quickly.

They are the same server, but the main site name is 'west.webtrafix.net'
while the DNS server is named 'ns1.webtrafix.net'.
