If you look in the search on password protection you
should find question # 518.  This one will give you
the way to create the .htaccess file.  If you are on a
PC you will need to name it just htaccess then upload
it to the RAQ and rename it .htaccess there.  You must
follow the example word for word.  Be sure that your
spacing is correct.  Put the .htaccess if in the
directory you want to protect then follow the
directions for creating the .htpasswd file.  I found
that I had to be root and also had to be in the
directory and issue the command as follows:  
htpasswd -c .htpasswd [username].  Take the -c out
after the first one so that it will not delete the
file each time.  If you can't get it to work e-mail me
and I will send you a copy of the .htaccess file that
I have.
