Re: [cobalt-users] Re: cron problem

also, did you look at the cron log in ./var/log? it can be pretty helpful.. moreso than reporting to the screen.

At 03:53 PM 4/23/00 -0400, you wrote:
My cron stopped working. What lead up to this is running a perl program from
cron which subsequently overloaded the server which had to be rebooted. I
did this two or three times trying to get the program to work. I never got
it to work but now cron is not working. I should say crontab to be more
specific, although I do not think my cron jobs are running either. I tried
rebooting again and restarting crond and then I tried to stop cron and then
start it a few seconds later. When I stopped it I got an error. It did not
say what the error was just Error! But then I issued the start command and
it said OK so I thought is was working but still no jobs get started. And
everything was working before. So at this point I do not know what damage
was done. I was thinking I might have to reinstall crond but I really don't
want to. That is a typical Windows response. When a program goes bad just
reinstall. I am hoping to fix whatever file went bad. I would appreciate any
help on this. Thanks.
