Hi Robert. The best way to learn about Linux is to dust off an old Pentium or PII, install RedHat 6.2 on it and go to town. Abuse it, break it, make it call you daddy, whatever. And if things go awry, you reinstall and break it all over again. Not only is it a great way to learn, but it's a lot of fun. (And chicks will dig you) >;^) As an added bonus, when you want to try something new on your RaQ, you can experiment first on your test box so as to save yourself the grief of hosing your "production" server. As for the Cobalt, the Knowledge Base on the cobalt site is pretty good at addressing the more common questions and issues. For anything other than specific issues with or affecting the GUI, you can search any number of linux resources on the web: www.linux.org and www.linux-howto.com for system issues, www.sendmail.org for mail issues, www.isc.org for DNS, etc and soforth. As far as system packages and programs go, you can either compile them yourself from source (as real men do) or you can search www.rpmfind.net for any rpm for x86, sparc and Alpha platforms. What about Cobalt support, you ask? Cobalt has what you can call tech-support. However, if you are trying to do something especially complicated, nonstandard or that will affect your warranty, then the good folks on cobalt-users are happy to assist provided you have done a bit of research on your own and know what it is that you are hoping to accomplish. Best of luck. May the Penguin Gods smile upon you. :^) Brandon Wheaton UNIX Systems Engineer ValiCert, Inc. 1215 Terra Bella Ave. Mountain View, CA 94043 650.567.5430 ---- Computers are useless; they can only provide answers. ~Pablo Picasso -----Original Message----- From: Robert C.
