Hi everyone,
I just recieved my Raq3 today!
I'm planning on colocating the server at a datacenter, but not until
Summer (July).
In the meantime, I plan on "playing" with the server. Getting familiar with
the UI, and updating the various software releases.
Now the hard part.
I currently have a speedy xDSL connection from Bell Canada (Sympatico).
I am hoping I can have the server share my DSL connection, almost as if it
was colocated. The Raq will also be the primary DNS server.
I am well aware that being on a DSL, the IP address is dynamic (plus the
damn telco is using PPOE!!). I do know that if I do not turn off my
computer, i can hold my IP for several days (even longer- but never tried).
Now the question:
Can I test drive the Raq this way? Do I need to purchase one of those
networking kits?
Plus, would I have to install PPOE on the RAQ? Would this end up screwing
my setup when I get to colocate this summer?
Many thanks to those who help out!
-Miguel
