I had a similar problem.  A client connecting over AOL was unable to send
mail to AOL addresses.  All others worked and the mail logs indicated no
problems.  When the client called AOL he was told that if a message (not the
server mind you but the message header) has an AOL IP it is dev/nulled to
prevent SPAM (users running their own SMTP).  Once he switched to earthlink
all problems went away.

Get off AOL and see what happens.
