its not that simple.. by default your dedicated line provider is the authority dns for your domain if they registered it for you.. if so, then you must tell them that you want to be authority so they set their dns to cache yours... then once your dns is running properly, you go and update your domain record with your server names and addresses, and place yourself as the technical contact for the domain.. if they are not listed in their database already, you may have to create a NIC handle for each dns so they are 'registered'.. i have not done this in a year or so so i am not sure if the procedure has changed, but that is the way it was.

a simple alternative to all this is leave the provider as authority, but have them set to update from yours every 3 hours.. that way, when you make a change, the world will only have to wait 3 hrs max:)
