RE: [cobalt-users] What *does* the community want?

I wanted an as seamless as possible transition from the existing listing to
a new migrated one.

This means that I am automatically subscribed to the new list, and I only
need to be notified via email (when the transition completes) so I post to
the new address and not the old one. If for any reason I didn't want the
subscription to the new one, I could opt-out. Please note that seamless
includes the replacement of the footers on each post.

As there were objections with the automatic subscription, then I am willing
to re-subscribe to the new list. As for the changing the footer, I have
heard too much nonsense about spamming etc. etc.

I was in favour of Jeff's/Ryan's/Bruce's list. It would do exactly what I
wanted.

The fact that by changing the footer, and then maybe in the future adding
pop-ups, or even pop-unders, or actually launch a DoS attack on my servers,
and do some black magic and voodoo that would make my cat die, my goldfish
drown, the Earth stop spinning and the Sun (the star) disappear, is a lot of
crap.

Look at a list that doesn't do all these bad, nasty things. The existing
list! This is what we need! Oh shit I forgot! it's going off-line! IT IS
GOING DOWN! IT IS GOING OFF-AIR! Can you realise that? Can you really get
this into your mind and stop bitching? For f**k sake, if I new how to do it
and had the infrastructure, I would have done it. I would migrate this list
to a new one, I would change the footers at the bottom of each post, and I
would post to all cobalt related lists so people could subscribe. I would
evaluate its usefulness/viability and I would ask the subscribers if I
should keep it running or shut it down, after a certain period of time.

I am afraid I cannot do it. I don't have the infrastructure and the time
right now.

This list was a good resource. Sorry to see it going.

Yiannis.
