I installed them from the bottom up (consistent with the pkg dates on the ftp
page - see gif). It seemed to make sense to install them in the order they
were released. I had no problems in installing them in that manner. I did not
need to install the mfg updates; the shell patches were contained in the OS
update, as were several previous patches. I have installed 12 patches thus
far. I have not installed the Kernel tools, but may later if I decide to do
mysql (depending on how the FP 2K issue is resolved). I have not installed
the experimental pop-before-smtp yet, but may depending on the requirements
of one of my users.

The security patches would seem most important to install.
