It is possible, but it will void your warranty and may conflict with the
support pkgs issued or to be issued.

I assume you have looked at  the All_Kernel.mips and All_kernel_tools.mips
patches on your Qube2 at

   ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/developer/All-Kernel_mips-1.0.pkg

and

   ftp://ftp.cobaltnet.com/pub/developer/All-Kernel_mips_tools-1.0.pkg ?

The first has a newer kernel with lots of enhancements and bug fixes, while
the latter has a glibc that has threading fixed. Possibly these have the
updates you need?
