Actually a lot less than you think.
For example, during March of 2003, total posts to the list were 106,836
bytes (in mbox format; that's close enough).
These posts were sent to approximately 1,500 subscribers, for a total of
approximately 160,254,000 (or less than 160 megabytes) of traffic.
That's with 1,500 listmembers; the new lists at qbalt.com have nowhere
near that many members.
Lists are generally fairly low-impact ways to spread information.
