no problem. If you have msn, add bno@xxxxxxxxxxxx it enables more direct
communication.
It is on topic in this sense; if a harddrive fails in a 550 and possibly
other models, many times corrupted data gets written to the other disk,
which is not defective, but will end up with a damaged up file system. I
have seen several times, that it leads to a non mountable partition (somehow
/var prefers to die). Sympton: the server starts booting, and goes into a
reboot loop. (last message on the display: startin clock, sometimes not even
that). general advise on the list: os restore. If you take 15 minutes to
mount the system in a Suse machine, and manualy mount and repair the
partitions, you can spare yourself a lot of time and effort.

Thanks bob, it worked so I don't need to bother you off-list.
I was able to mount the xfs partitions and get the files I needed.
Now while I'm at it, I'd like to check some logs to find out why the box
kept rebooting.
Any info on which logs I should check ?
Thanks for the help by the way.
