Ok, while I've read the other posts in which a nice
battle has ensued and proved Bruce's original theory that
a splinter war was going to come about...
If any NEW domain is created to deal with this List
and any related one-stop hub for Cobalt, I'd hope there's
enough common sense out there to realize that if it's not
a .com or .net it's totally worthless.
.us, etc. are TLD's that routinely false-out leaving
the viewer with dead page requests and no detail as to why.
This goes for all the other TLD's beyond the original .com
and .net's, even .org has been causing issues in the last
6 months.
.uk would be an option, but at least in our case we've
had tons of timeouts with any .uk address, leading us to
believe that TLD is not the best option. .ca has been a
rampant source of intrusion attempts and timeouts as well
from most of the backbones, we've run timing tests from
various points worldwide and seen the same results.
I think the idea is to find a new home that works
as much as possible FOR the users, not against them.
This, of course, is IF a new central home domain is
used. If someone's out there snapping them up, then that's
an obvious sign that golddiggers are present and that leads
to Bruce's thoughts on how ugly this can get.
Work together, not against...
