[cobalt-users] Re: More Comments on the Lists

Thanks for the vote of support... it does mean a lot to have everyone looking
to me... I'm sure I don't have all the answers though; and this being a
community we need to hear everyone's input, and allow everyone who can help
in any way to do so. No one of us can do everything, and I don't think it
should be like that anyway. Too many opportunities for continued resentment
for whatever reason...

The lists Ryan has set up will contain the old cobalt-* content, appropriately
munged to fit the new domain. As far as people are concerned, the list will
be the same. They will just have to address emails to cobalt-*@list.qbalt.com
instead of to cobalt-*@list.cobalt.com.

Jeff's taking the lead on getting the import/migration/whatever work done as
he says he has the experience/knowledge and "free time" to do it. I certainly
don't have the experience/knowledge at migrating mailing lists; sure, I could
probably figure it out, but it would take too long and honestly, why should I
bother if he can do it and is willing? Frankly I'm glad he's offering
assistance as a service to the Cobalt community at large. And if he can't do
it, for whatever reason, it will be in front of all of you. (No pressure now,
Jeff, right? :)

I directed people to cobaltfacts as a known quantity. People who want to find
out what's up with the community now or in the future can check there. If
they then choose to stay only on cobaltfacts, fine. If they want to join and
post on separate -users, -developers, -security, -announce, -whatever lists
like they've been doing on the cobalt.com domain, they have that option as
well now, with the lists Ryan set up.

So we've got a home now for all the cobalt-* list contents, in the same format
they were in before. All everyone has to do is go to list.qbalt.com and make
sure you're signed up for the "new" cobalt-* list(s) of your choice and start
posting to them today. Why wait for the 15th? :)

The other non-list-preservation discussions can all be handled on cobaltfacts.
Or maybe even on a new cobalt-discuss (cobalt-bitch?) list @qbalt.com...
